Xinyi

Xinyi is Taipei's planned showcase district, a grid of wide boulevards and skyscrapers built around the iconic Taipei 101, the city's financial nerve center and most recognizable address. By day it hums with bankers, executives and shoppers moving between Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores, Breeze and ATT 4 FUN; by night the plazas around City Hall fill with diners and a polished, cosmopolitan crowd. The district seats the Taipei City Government and concentrates the highest density of luxury residences in Taiwan. Despite the commercial intensity, Xinyi is remarkably livable. The Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) trail rises directly behind the towers, offering the city's most famous skyline views minutes from your door, while Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall provides a vast open plaza for morning tai chi. Ultra-luxury residential projects like Tao Zhu Yin Yuan have pushed prices to record highs, making Xinyi a byword for prestige real estate, though yields here are modest, as in all of Taipei.
